So as some of you may know, this past weekend saw the launch of two new video game consoles - the Sony Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. Being a big
nerd video game fan, and especially a Nintendo fan, I've been looking forward to the Wii for about as long as I've known about it. Despite some good games, I haven't been looking forward to the PS3 nearly as much, for a few reasons:
1. It's $600
2. It's $600
3. Sony is full of big poopyheads
The big draw of the Wii, of course, is the entirely different method of control it uses - instead of a traditional controller, the "Wiimote" is a wireless motion sensor that you use to control actions in game - like swinging the controller to swing a sword, for example. The system comes with Wii Sports, a collection of five simplified sports games (tennis, bowling, baseball, golf and boxing) meant to show off the Wii's capabilities.
Unfortunately, despite costing only $250, I don't currently have the funds to get one :(
DJ Joe Cooper was lucky enough to snag one on launch night, and I got to experience the awesomeness of Wii Sports first hand. Peter Ferrell beat me in Tennis, but I whooped that boy's ass in Bowling.
Luckily, I live with one DJ Oreck, who was looking to procure a Wii as well, since he'd just gotten a $500 check from his parents (bastard). So today we set out on an adventure along with Dr. Ceballos, DJ Markski and JD Dyslexia to find the
Holy Grail Arc of the Covenant Wii. We made our way to Henrietta around 4 PM and had a quick nosh at the Pita Pit (which, if you've never been there, is fantastic). Our first stop was Toys 'R' Us, which I thought would be likely to have a big ol' stack of Wiis still sitting there. Of course, it was not meant to be, as they were indeed sold out of the systems and every accessory.
From there, things just went downhill. Best Buy? Nope. Target? Nada. Gamestop? Nein. EB Games? Zilch.
Sears? Zippo. BJ's? More like... No Wii's. Circuit City? They had a sign on the door saying "We are temporarily sold out of Wii's". Walmart? Shit. Eight places, and no Wii's.
The worst part was overhearing the Gamestop clerks talking about how they had a bunch of Wii's in stock, but they weren't selling them. The only real consolation was the fact that I found
Big Trouble in Little China for $6 at Target. And we got home and watched it and it was awesome.
So in conclusion, my favorite game of all time is Chrono Trigger. What's yours?
all of them is great, even i have been write them in a blog....
check it out ;)
